Our Team
Rob Hyman
Owner
Rob is a keyboardist/singer/ songwriter who moved to Philadelphia from Meriden, CT to attend the University of Pennsylvania and has lived in the area ever since.
A number of bands were formed with Rob and friends in college and beyond, most notably with drummer/producer Rick Chertoff and guitarist/co-writer Eric Bazilian. Ever since their 70s West Philly jams, the three became a collaborative team that has worked together on many recording projects including debut albums from Cyndi Lauper and Joan Osborne.
In 1980 Rob and Eric formed The Hooters whose performance highlights include opening Live Aid at JFK Stadium in Philly (1985), Amnesty International Concert For Hope at Giants Stadium (1986), and Roger Waters’s “The Wall” in Berlin (1990).
Rob has also written and recorded with a number of other artists including The Band, Taj Mahal, Mick Jagger and The Chieftains. He co-wrote Cyndi Lauper’s #1 hit “Time After Time” which earned them a Grammy nomination for ‘Song Of The Year’ in 1984.
Celebrating 45 years together onstage in 2025, The Hooters continue to tour internationally behind a series of Gold and Platinum albums and were honored by the Philadelphia Music Alliance with a sidewalk plaque on Philly’s Avenue of the Arts in 2019.
And after more than 20 years since breaking ground, Elm Street Studios has continued to be the culmination of his rock and roll dreams…
Brendan McGeehan
Chief Engineer/Studio Manager
Brendan is a true utility player in the music industry. A trained recording engineer and studied musician, he is adept and comfortable behind the board, in the producer’s chair, as well as being a player on the other side of the glass.
Equally at home at a rock venue, classical concert hall, or jazz club, Brendan’s enthusiasm, love, and understanding of many genres of music keeps him in demand.
Recent highlights include working with Cyndi Lauper on her next Broadway musical, producing a one day, multi-location festival celebrating the life and music of Nina Simone, and a weeklong residency at the Kennedy Center with award winning author Jacqueline Woodson and Wondersmith Entertainment. He also just put the finishing touches on his first solo album, under the moniker “Peace Fortress.”
Nicky Hyman
Studio Assistant
Nicky is Rob’s youngest son. He fondly remembers carving his initials into the then wet cement outside the building, alongside his older brother, Matt, over 20 years ago. Ever since that pivotal moment the studio has felt like a second home to him.
When he’s not helping Brendan set up or break down for a session, you can most likely find him scurrying about the warehouse, working on one of his various artistic endeavors (amongst them, the three paintings currently hanging in the live room).
Need a fresh pot of coffee? Someone to grab lunch? Anything else your heart may desire? Nicky is your guy!
